What is HomeLink®?

homelink

If you’re considering a new Chevrolet vehicle, you may be wondering, “What is HomeLink®?” Essentially, HomeLink® is a wireless control system that comes with new Chevy cars, trucks, and SUVs. With this technology, you can do the following:

  • Open/close your garage door or security gate
  • Activate/deactivate your home’s security system
  • Turn on/off home interior and exterior lights, appliances, and other in-home electronics

Read on to learn more about the benefits of HomeLink®, and see how much easier it can make your daily travels around Catskill.

What Are the Advantages of HomeLink®?

Whether you choose a HomeLink®-equipped Chevy Traverse, Silverado 1500, or Malibu, you can expect the following benefits from this class-leading wireless control system:

  • Easy-to-Use System: You can connect your new Chevy to your home with the push of just a few buttons.
  • Compatibility: HomeLink® can be used with almost any garage door opener or gate system. It’s also compatible with all sorts of other radio-frequency (RF) controlled devices.
  • Power Up Three Devices: With HomeLink®, you can control up to three devices, putting you in greater control of your surroundings.
  • Added Security: HomeLink® can also notify you if you’ve left the garage door open or closed, so there’s no second-guessing. You’ll also have remote control over other devices in your home like the security system and lights, giving you added peace of mind while you’re traveling around Hudson.
  • No Batteries: HomeLink® is powered by your vehicle’s electrical system, so you don’t have to worry about changing batteries.

Programming HomeLink®: Step-by-Step Guide

Programming HomeLink® is easier than you might think. Simply follow the instructions below to sync your garage door opener to your vehicle:

  1. HomeLink® includes three buttons, which are typically found on the car ceiling above the center console. Press and hold down the first and third buttons until the car’s interior lights start flashing. Usually, this takes about 20 seconds. Pressing and holding these two buttons simultaneously is the master reset, so you don’t have to do this when you add other devices.
  2. After the interior lights start flashing, press and hold the button you wish to program while also pressing and holding the open/close button on your garage door opener. The interior lights should start flashing more rapidly, which signals that programming is successful and complete.
  3. Next, go into your garage and press the “learn” button on your garage door opener.
  4. Finally, go back to your car and press the button you just programmed for at least two seconds. You may see the lights on your garage door opener flash, indicating that it is connecting. The lights on the garage door opener may flash, signaling that it’s connecting to HomeLink®.
